British Scout Fireworks--Surprisingly Good!

The weather yesterday was surprisingly good.  After the morning rain cleared with a strong westerly wind, the temperature kept creaping up.  By mid-afternoon, it was 12 degrees and we decided to go out to the British School of Brussel's Scouts Fundraiser firework presentation. (I think its supposed to be associated with Guy Fawkes' Day).

It was definitely worth it, in spite of the fact that entrance, food drinks for the four of us cost more than babysitting and a date out to the movies might have!  It was all for a good cause, so I really shouldn't complain.

Even though this was our competition school, I saw lots of kids and staff from St. John's there.  The scout troupe from Waterloo looked after the concession stand and the Brussels troupe was in charge of the fireworks, musical entertainment and coordination.  It was all very well organized, and the all-girl teen band was actually really good doing covers of all sorts of stuff appropriate for a mixed audience (michael jackson, the beatles, steely dan, etc)

We were amazed at the quality of the display that happened in two ten minute sessions...as good as I've seen at the CNE or Ontario Place for the size of it, truly!

As we were coming home, the rain started coming down, and the winds picked up  even more, so the coordinators must have been relieved the weather was so cooperative!
